Divine Theories was realized through the loss of my Mom. Of the lessons learned through grieving, I began to appreciate the beauty of the day to day; small observations that slowly helped me heal.
Through shows and discussion, I saw the importance of community and the support it offers. I learned of the stories of incredible losses but even more powerful; resilience.
I continue to seek beauty through story telling to remind others that they’re not alone.

Divine Theories
The show was inaugurated at RIVAA, a small neighborhood art gallery near Manhattan. The energies that came from being surrounded by families appealed to me. This brief, three day show emphasized the importance of this work as I helped heal through learning of other people’s stories.
As I began to research my international adoption process and the grueling three-year commitment of international correspondence my parents undertook, I realized the incredible lengths people go to begin a family. This particular project is aided by original documents; beginning with a legal document of what defined me as an Orphan.
I aim to include other families stories as they navigated international laws, through an orphanage known as Phaya Thai.
I wanted to share another story as well, including the incredible events of how a 13 year old girl saves her family during the Syrian war. Her quotes and imagery accentuate the walls throughout the gallery.
My goal is to examine the human condition and the stories that help shape us. I’m fascinated by the dichotomies and the messy bits of which we learn to become human.
